DECORATIVE ARTS CLASSES - April to June 2008
Introduction
to
Decorative/Tole/Folk Art Painting
Suitable for anyone interested in creating art but is not sure where to start. A brief overview of several mediums ie acrylics, pen/ink, etc focusing on different styles such as decorative arts, tole painting and folk art painting. The student will gain a better understanding of the materials required, the techniques involved and acquire a better appreciation for this fun art form! Warning – this art form can become addictive!
Supply Fee $6.

Painting
Beginner’s Strokework
Learn about basic supplies, techniques in brush control, brush loading, and basic blending while completing a candle holder for your table! Introduction to basic strokework will be studied. Have fun and learn the basics of decorative painting. Students will be contacted prior to class about painting supplies.

Forget-Me-Nots Mirror
Delight yourself with a bouquet of acrylic Forget-Me-Nots created on a old-fashioned hand held mirror!
The student will learn sideloading and double-loading the brush, comma strokes, leaf strokes and more.
A beautiful addition to any dressing table. Students will be contacted prior to class about painting supplies.
Supply Fee including mirror $25.

Countryside Key Holder
While creating a functional key holder, the beginner student will learn about basic supplies, techniques such as brush control, brush loading and more. Texture paste, highlighting and shading will be learned.A whimisical folksie addition to any home! Students will be contacted prior to class about painting supplies.

Ink & Acrylic Wash Napkin Holder
Painting on a salt/pepper napkin holder, the student will create an acrylic wash of a red pepper/apple design embellished with daisies and highlighted with pen & ink. A functional addition to your kitchen table! The student will learn techniques such as double-loading, highlighting and shading, stippling and more. Students will be contacted prior to class about painting supplies.
Supply Fee including napkin holder $25.

Drawing with Pen and Ink for the Beginner
Create a beautiful bird
design rendered in pen/ink. Learn several inking techniques such as stippling,
crosshatching, contour and linear strokes. Bring to the first class a 9" x
12" sketch pad, HB or 2B drawing pencil, sharpener & kneaded eraser. Ink
and all material will be supplied. No experience necessary.
Supply fee $40
includes a professional Koh-I-Noor pen.

Canvas Wall Hanging with an Asian Influence
Using a variety of mediums,
such as inks, acrylics, embellishments and a variety of tools the student
will create a canvas wall hanging with an Asian influence. The student will
be encouraged to “think outside the box” emphasizing the joy of creation.
A really fun class!
Supply Fee of $40 payable to instructor on first night
of class.
